Activities for kids in the age group: 3 - 6 Years.

How does one keep a toddler engaged and active on all those days when he is not able to go to school or to the park? Every parent faces this dilemma regularly especially in this era where the TV screen is like a magnet. Sometimes out of desperation, the parent will hand over the smartphone so that they are kept busy and out of mischief. But as this addiction can lead to far reaching consequences, parents have to use their ingenuity to keep the child busy. Of course, they have to be involved and participate wholeheartedly to enjoy the activities.
1. Treasure hunt: Keep various objects like the child’s ball, pencil, hot wheels etc., hidden in the house and leave easy clues for them to find.
2. Indoor basketball: Hang a laundry bag or any deep basket at a height and try shooting rolled-up socks or newspaper balls in it. Keep a scorecard.
3. Coloring/ painting: This can involve slightly older children too. Use your printer to take out prints of scenery, animals or objects. Take buttons easily available and use different colored paints on them. (It can get a little messy!) Next use glue to paste the buttons on the sheets.
4. Pretend play: Set up shop under the dining table with bed sheets and kitchen items which will not spill. Make paper money and help children to buy and sell. Variations of this theme can be used.
5. Household chores: Make the cleaning of the beds or dusting/ stacking of clothes into a game and make the work fun!
All one needs is a little bit of imagination to turn a dull day into one that the child wants to remember for long!!
